NMBM water system under severe pressure right now

Large parts of the Western suburbs of Nelson Mandela Bay are currently experiencing low pressure or have water disruptions.

Executive Mayor Retief Odendaal says that while the entire system has been severely under pressure during the course of this week, an electricity outage in the Northern suburbs on Thursday night led to the Stanford Road pump station being offline.

Since various reservoirs were already operating under levels of 10% at the time of the electricity outage, the Municipality is now experiencing major water interruptions across the Metro.

Mayor Odendaal says, as previously indicated, the system is so constrained that any unforeseen event can lead to further outages.

He says the municipality is working around the clock to restore supply and cannot stress enough how important it is that communities that do have water at the moment - use it sparingly.
