NMB to invest millions to beautify the Metro

In an effort to beautify the City, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Directorate is investing the considerable amount of R26 917 319 into the upgrading of beaches, parks and cemeteries in areas across the Metro.

The proposed upgrades include the fencing of cemeteries and parks, tarring of road and the construction of side-walks, building of outdoor gyms, planting of trees, and the upgrading of benches, tables and braai facilities.

The Mayoral Committee Member for public health Yolisa Pali says the municipality is working towards creating a sustainable city that takes care of its people and the environment.

  • R6 217 319 will be spent on fencing in Bethelsdorp (Wards 34 and 25)
  • R1 000 000 will be spent on upgrading braai facilities in Summerstrand
  • R19 700 000 will be spent on the establishment of parks and sport fields in North End, Holland Park, KwaZakhele, Zwide, Chatty, Bethelsdorp, Dwesi Extension and Motherwell, for the enjoyment of children and community members.
