Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Gary van Niekerk's official vehicle has been involved in an accident.
The Mayor confirmed to Algoa FM News that he was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident on Friday morning but that his driver was injured and taken to hospital.
Metro spokesperson, Kupido Baron says the driver and member of the Municipality's security detail, Pastor Phillip Solomon was on his way to pick up Van Niekerk when the accident happened on the N2 in the vicinity of the Greenbushes offramp.
He said Soloman was "doing well" and no one else was injured in the accident.
