The illegal strike by employees of Nelson Mandela Bay's Electricity and Energy Directorate appears to be impacting several more areas across the Metro.
The Metro said that the strike, which began last week, is putting considerable strain on services and has caused delays in attending to electricity related problems within the metro.
Algoa FM News has received reports of power interruptions in at least 12 different areas from Seaview, to the Northern Areas of Port Elizabeth as well as Rocklands and other parts of Uitenhage.
We are still awaiting comment on the latest situation from the Metro Communication's Office.
However, a call to the Metro's customer care centre was met with the following voicemail message.
"We have industrial action at the electricity department at present, whereby no technical staff are being dispatched. The call centre is unable to give you any time frame when this matter will be resolved. They can only take your details and record your queries on a data base and then give you a reference number. Once the strike has ended the staff will attend to these calls. We apologise the inconvenience and we are aware of the frustration experienced"
