Police in the Eastern Cape are searching for 38-year-old Thulani Nqgonqgo, who has been missing for over a week.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa says a concerned family member opened a missing persons report when Nqgonqgo never showed up for work.
She says police conducted a preliminary investigation with no success, but the investigation is still ongoing.
Nqgonqgo, a father of four, is originally from Mdantsane and was visiting family in East London for the weekend.
His sister last saw him on Monday when he left home to return to Gqeberha, where he works at Reef Tankers.
Nqgonqgo, however, never arrived in the Bay, and his work and private phones were switched off.
A concerned family member who spoke to Algoa FM News said they have been desperately phoning hospitals and morgues to find him.
Agri EC cameras spotted his white Toyota Corolla Quest driving 120 km inland, in the opposite direction of Gqeberha, with one occupant in the passenger seat.
According to an insider, police keep some information out of the public domain as the investigation continues.
