George Executive Mayor, Charles Standers has announced the formation of a multi-party task team, following discussions during a Special Council Meeting on Sunday, on the events of the last couple of days in George relevant to the GO GEORGE public transport system.
Municipal spokesperson, Chantel Edwards-Klose says consensus was reached between the different political parties to work together in finding solutions.
She says the task team already commenced their work this weekend.
A Special Council Meeting will be convened soon to consider the proposals of the task team.
Standers said it was expected of all George Councillors to put aside their political differences and to show true leadership.
He has urged the community to remain calm, adding that the matter enjoyed Council's highest priority.
Last week, four Go George buses, valued at R15 million in total, were torched by angry taxi operators, who claimed they had not been properly consulted regarding the Go George Bus system.
