Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of murder after the mutilated body of a missing woman was discovered at a crossing in Motherwell
Police Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the 77-year-old woman was reported missing by her niece on Tuesday.
A wood collector made the gruesome discovery on Wednesday and alerted police.
Lilian Mapukana was positively identified by her family by means of her clothing and dreadlocks.
Beetge says her face and body was so badly mutilated that she was unrecognisable.
Swartkops police are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.
