A driver transporting meat in a refrigeration truck sustained minor injuries on Tuesday after he lost control of his vehicle on the N2 towards Jeffreys Bay.
Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the driver collided with pillars of a bridge close to the Windfarm Garage and his cargo, 100 carcasses of meat, lay strewn across the road.
He says, that when police arrived at the accident scene, community members were already busy looting meat, while vehicles passing the scene also stopped to join in.
Captain Beetge says police backup were called in to regain control of the scene.
