A man sustained several wounds when shots were fired at his bakkie at Monument Crossing in Motherwell in Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said the incident happened at around 11.30 this morning.
She said Swartkops police responded to a report of a Ford Ranger bakkie found abandoned with bullet holes in the vehicle.
Janse Van Rensburg said while at the scene, the driver arrived and told them that while at the crossing, three men with guns approached and opened fire.
She said the man drove off but jumped out about 20 metres from the intersection and ran between the shacks.
He had sustained three gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Janse Van Rensburg said the motive for the shooting is not yet known and the shooters remain at large.
