Man jailed for life for rape, 15 years after committing the crime

File

A convicted rapist was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Oudtshoorn Regional Court on Tuesday, 15 years after he raped a four-year-old girl from Mossel Bay.

The accused, 42-year-old Makhosandile Nomga, was linked to the crime through the DNA analysis of a single hair, eight years after the incident took place on 14 May 2008 when the child was walking to nursery school

During the trial, it came to light that Nomga took her hand and bought her a packet of chips. He then raped and assaulted the victim in nearby bushes.

The victim is 19 years old today.

Nomga was arrested in George Prison, where he was already serving a 30-year sentence for a previous rape.
