A 32-year-old man is due to appear in court in Mdantsane in East London on Wednesday for allegedly killing three teenagers on Sunday night.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the teens, aged between 17 and 19, were shot dead in an outbuilding of a house in Unit 1 while studying for exams.
She said two of the deceased were brothers, with one being in matric.
Naidu said the owner of the house heard gunshots coming from the back of her house where the teenagers were studying.
“An injured victim ran to her house for assistance. One victim died on the scene, while another two died in hospital. The fourth victim is still in hospital,” she said.
Naidu said the deceased were scholars at Buchule and Mzomhle Senior Secondary School in Mdantsane and the motive for the murders is still under investigation.
Provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nomthelele Mene, expressed her condolences to the families of the deceased youths.
