A 50-year-old man from Jeffreys Bay will appear in court in Cape Town on Friday for allegedly posting a video where he rants about the appalling situation in the country and also makes derogatory remarks towards a specific race group.
Western Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says the man was arrested in Jeffreys on Wednesday.
She says in the video, the man calls on white South Africans to wake up from their slumber, while also allegedly making insulting references to two politicians who are named in the clip.
Potelwa warned social media users to use social media platforms responsibly, saying failure to do so will have dire consequences.
She says the man used derogatory terms and graphic language to describe what he considers imminent attacks on white people by black people.
He faces crimen injuria charges as well as those that relate to the contravention of those related to the Cyber Crimes Act.
