Eastern Cape police have confirmed the death of an eight victim of last week's mass shooting in Kwazakhele in Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the person was in a critical condition and was unconscious, but has now passed away.
She said he was the 55-year-old Thando Fibi, who died on Saturday morning.
Colonel Naidu said two people who were injured in the shooting during the birthday celebration, have since been discharged from hospital, while a third was still receiving treatment.
No arrests have yet been made after two gunmen opened on the party-goers at a house in Kwazakhele last Sunday.
Colonel Naidu also appealed to the public to avoid sharing a voice note on social media.
“The investigating officer are aware of voice notes and a video that are circulating in relation to these murders and have since dismissed these voice notes and video as fake news,” said Colonel Naidu.
She said the public is urged not to believe the contents.
“One voice note is an old one that was already circulated last year. We are urging receivers of these voice notes to refrain from recirculating them as they may have dire consequences to those who are featured therein.”
