The first plastic road in Africa is expected to be built in the Kouga Municipality in the Eastern Cape.
The Municipality announced that the innovative project would be launched on Monday in Jeffreys Bay.
Mayor, Horatio Hendricks, said they had to start looking at alternative ways to deal with the roads and infrastructure backlog of over R500m.
"We realised that we would have to look at new and innovative ways to kill the giant and restore the economic potential of Kouga," he said.
