The kidnapped Capetonian woman, Alize van der Merwe, has been returned after she was kidnapped last Friday.
According to police, the 39-year-old was returned with an unknown 34-year-old woman at around midday on Thursday.
Although both women had been kidnapped, no further particulars about the second victim were made known.
Hawks Spokesperson Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana said the women were dropped off by a white Toyota single bakkie near the Sulenkama Police Station in the Eastern Cape.
"Their release came after the pressure exerted by the police on the suspects," said Mhlakuvana.
Both victims are reportedly traumatized and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Algoa FM News previously reported that van der Merwe hired a car in East London to travel to the Umngazi Resort in Port St Johns.
A social media post by private investigator, Mike Bolhuis stated that she rented a white Toyota Fortuner, registration number LX73KLGP, on Friday and departed on the N2.
He said her last reported communication with her family was around 11:30 when she mentioned she was planning to stop, likely at the Shell Ultra City in Mthatha.
At approximately 15:13, the family received a call informing them that Alize had been kidnapped.
Bolhuis said tracking data indicated that the vehicle was abandoned between Dumasi and Umngazi Resort.
Mhlakuvana previously confirmed to Algoa FM News on Sunday that van der Merwe's family had received a call from the kidnappers demanding a ransom.
He said the provincial head of the Hawks, Major-General Mboiki Obed Ngwenya is appealing to the public who may have information that could assist the investigation to contact the police immediately.
The matter is still under investigation by the Hawks.
