The Inaugural Nelson Mandela Bay International Film Festival, which was set to take place in Port Elizabeth in December, will most likely not be happening.
This was confirmed by Nelson Mandela's grandson, Mandla, who attended the lavish launch in December last year.
He represented the Royal House of Mandela, which was going to be one of the partners.
The Festival was going to showcase 400 films in various venues across the Metro and promised to bring a significant economic boost to the tourism and hospitality industry.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro has set aside millions of rand towards the event, but by March this year, nothing has been approved or signed on the dotted line.
Sun Boardwalk, which was going to screen some of the movies during the week-long festival, also confirmed that they had pulled out of the event.
