Employees from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Electricity and Energy Directorate are continuing to illegally strike in a protest relating to allowance issues.
Municipality Spokesperson, Mthubanzi Mniki, says the strike has placed considerable strain on services and has caused delays in attending to electricity related problems within the metro.
Mniki says Portfolio Chairperson of Infrastructure and Engineering, Councillor Andile Mfunda, met with striking workers on Monday in a bid to find common ground.
Mniki says the meeting was positive and they hope to reach an agreement before Friday.
Residents are advised to continue registering electricity queries and complaints with the call centre.
