Eastern Cape police have released the names of the two people who were found murdered in Hogsback on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, says they were 66-year-old Judith Masters and her partner 50-year-old Fabian Genin.
They were former staff members at Fort Hare University.
Police said their bodies were found in a house on Main Street with their hands and feet bound.
Nkohli said there were no visible injuries.
The motive for the murders is not yet known and will form part of the ongoing investigation.
