High ranking medic killed in crash on N6

A high ranking officer in the Eastern Cape Department of Health has been killed in a head-on collision involving a truck and his bakkie.

The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon on the N6 road outside Komani towards James Calata.

The truck driver escaped unscathed while the EMS district manager in Chris Hani died on impact.

Health Spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo says they were devastated to have lost such a high ranking and dedicated public servant.

He identified the victim as Colin Francis.
