The Hawks will be taking over the investigation into the kidnapping of a Gqeberha man on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police a 33-year-old man was gunned down at a scrap metal dealer in Hart Street in Sidwell, during the incident.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naiu, said he died on the scene.
She said the deceased's father was allegedly kidnapped by approximately six suspects.
Naidu said they fled in a Toyota Corolla.
She said the case will now be investigated by the Hawks.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
