A six-year-old Grade 1 learner from Holy Cross Primary School in George has become the youngest patron of the George Library to publish his first book.
Liam Tait's first book "The Dream of Animals" was launched at the local library on Monday as part of National Literacy Month.
The youngster's book, a typical entry-level book, was a holiday project while visiting his aunt, Rehelda Williams in June.
It was Williams who encouraged Liam to write down his thoughts, specifically using words he could spell and knew.
His mother Phyona said Liam was their shining light.
"His first words when he saw the book was, I'm an author," his mom said.
"He is also very interested in the sales," she added.
Liam's dad, Wendell Tait was a detective at George Saps and passed away from Covid in December 2020.
The book was self-published and printed by Blending.co.za. It is available on Amazon.com and Kindle.
