Two men who died last week after consuming cupcakes in Graaff-Reinet have been identified.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli says the deceased were identified as Deon Hans, 35, and Sipho Sweli, 34.
He says a third victim is still in critical condition after being transferred to a hospital in Gqeberha.
It is alleged that Hans, Sweli and a third person were given poisoned cupcakes.
The three men were rushed to the hospital in Graaff-Reinet last week after complaining about severe stomach ache.
Hans and Sweli died soon after being admitted.
A source told Algoa FM News that the cupcakes were laced with pesticides.
Police have opened up an inquest docket.
