Gqeberha police have arrested a suspect and recovered a hijacked bakkie at the weekend.
Spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says members from Motherwell who were patrolling in the early hours of Saturday, received information of a white Isuzu LDV that was hijacked in Mbanga Street in Soweto-on-Sea.
She says it is alleged that the complainant was on his way to work when two armed men hijacked him.
The vehicle was later spotted in NU9 in Motherwell and as the suspects attempted to speed off, the vehicle stalled.
The driver fled on foot while the passenger attempted to attack police with a knife.
A shot was fired and the suspect was wounded in the upper leg.
The 31-year-old was arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and possession of a dangerous weapon and will appear in the Motherwell magistrate's court on Monday.
Meanwhile, police in Gqeberha are searching for three suspects following a hijacking in Bethelsdorp on Saturday.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the complainant was sitting in his VW Jetta with a friend in Catherine Road when three unknown suspects approached them.
She says they threatened them with a firearm and instructed them to get out of the vehicle.
The suspects then drove off and the vehicle was later recovered abandoned in the Chatty area.
