Gqeberha police have arrested a 32-year-old man in Walmer for the alleged murder of 8-year-old Taslin Lucas.
Spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu said members of the community found the suspect at the 5th Avenue dumping site on Wednesday afternoon, and assaulted him.
According to Naidu, a security vehicle stopped and intervened.
Naidu said the man was taken to the Walmer police station where he is being detained for the murder of the child.
The suspect is alleged to be the boyfriend of the deceased girl's mother.
Taslin's body was found on 24 July in Airport Valley.
She had sustained visible burn wounds on her body and she was never reported as missing.
The investigation is ongoing.
