In an interesting turn of events in the Gqeberha Magistrates court on Thursday, the young man accused of killing his girlfriend in Booysens Park on New Year's Day abandoned his bid for bail and said he intends to plead guilty.
Baxolise Vuso faces a charge of murder after allegedly severely assaulting his 21-year-old girlfriend Zanele Dibaza.
Captain Andre Beetge says Dibaza suffered severe head injuries and later succumbed to her injuries in hospital that day.
During court proceedings on Thursday, Vuso sang a different tune, after earlier indicating he would apply for bail, announcing his intention to plead guilty.
The matter was then transferred to the Regional Court.
As was the case at his previous court appearance, members of various political parties came to court to show their support for Dibaza and her family.
Vuso will be back in court again on Monday.
