A Gqeberha man who allegedly fired the gun that fatally wounded a 16-month-old infant has abandoned his bid for bail.
Thirty-one-year-old Mandla Menze made another brief appearance in the Motherwell Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Menze has been charged with the murder of Luhlelunje Mdingi in Unit 8 in Motherwell on 3 December.
The infant's aunt was carrying him in her arms when the shooting took place.
They were on their way to a corner shop when she heard gunshots go off in the area.
Menze's attorney, Bond Nyoka, previously told the court that his client had two previous convictions.
He also said his client is currently out on bail on a pending case of the unlawful possession of ammunition.
The case was postponed to 18 February 2025 for further investigation.
