A case of reckless and negligent driving will be investigated against a man whose vehicle overturned while he was transporting learners from various schools in Gqeberha on Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened before 2 pm in Tait Street, in Newton Park once the learners had already been collected from their schools in the Schauderville and Korsten area.
The learners are said to be from the Diedrich, Frank Joubert, and Abraham Levy Primary Schools.
Residents who live near the scene of the accident said some of the learners were ejected from the small truck when the crash occurred as the impact sent its canopy flying.
They aided the learners while medical services personnel haste to the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate that there were about 20 children in the vehicle when it overturned.
All of the children were treated for an array of minor injuries which include cuts, bruises, abrasions, and sprains.
By the time ambulances left the scene to transport the injured to various hospitals, no fatalities had been reported.
The driver, who injured his legs in the crash, allegedly swerved to avoid hitting an oncoming car, causing his vehicle to overturn.
