Two men arrested in Thembalethu, George, are set to appear in the Mossel Bay Court on Friday for a foiled December cash-in-transit heist and robbery.
According to Hawks Spokesperson, Zinzi Hani, the two suspects, aged 32 and 36, were part of six men that attacked a Fidelity Cash Solutions company last year on the 6th December 2022 at an Engen garage outside Mossel Bay.
Hani said the suspects reportedly robbed the crew man off of his official firearm and then tried to access the vault of the vehicle but couldn’t access the money .
She said they left the scene with a getaway vehicle that was later found abandoned.
"Through preliminary investigations, one of the suspects was identified and on 4th January 2023."
Hani said the arrests were made by the George DPCI National Priority Violent Crimes Investigation together with members of the Garden route flying squad.
"More arrests are imminent," she added.
