George mayor, Charles Standers, has announced the formation of a multi-party task team following this past week's violence targeting the city's Go George bus service.
According to a statement this weekend, the decision was taken at a Special Council Meeting on Friday.
Standers says consensus had been reached between the different political parties to work together in finding solutions, while the task team has already begun its work.
This past week four Go George buses were torched, with damage put at an estimated R15m.
Disgruntled taxi operators in the George area have expressed their unhappiness with the George Integrated Public Transport Network and what the project to be halt and renegotiated.
Several taxis were impounded and several arrests made.
Standers says the matter is a top priority for the George Municipality.
