Four people have been killed and three others severely injured following a single-vehicle accident on the R56.
A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Unathi Binqose says the accident happened early on Monday afternoon between Steynsburg and Molteno.
He says it is alleged that the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a sharp curve and subsequently lost control of his vehicle.
Binqose says the seven occupants, four women and three men, were on their way to Molteno.
Three people were declared dead on the scene while a female passenger died later in hospital.
The driver, another man and a woman were taken to Steynsburg Provincial Hospital for further medical attention.
The names of the victims are not yet known and a case of culpable homicide was opened at Steynsburg SAPS.
