Four suspects were gunned down by members of the Tactical Response Team (TRT) during a shootout in Keiskammahoek in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa says police followed up on information about suspects allegedly in possession of unlicensed firearms.
She says TRT members attached to Mdantsane and East London had to scale a high boundary wall and tactically enter the premises.
Meanwhile, the MEC of Transport and Community Safety Xolile Nqatha said the men were alleged kidnappers and blood stains in the house suggest that victims had been tortured.
He praised the police for their swift operation.
The deceased suspects, whose names are being withheld are aged between 29 and 40 while a 38-year-old wounded suspect is under police guard.
Police also confiscated three firearms and two vehicles believed to be stolen.
