The four accused in last week's shooting incident in Motherwell, Gqeberha which claimed the lives of two people and left two others wounded, made a brief appearance in the local magistrate's court on Monday.
Andisiwe Zondani, Siphamandla Matsha, Siphokazi Mabutho, and Ayanda Yekela face a string of charges following the incident in Dyakalashe Street in Unit 12 last Wednesday.
The four allegedly stormed into the house through the kitchen door and opened fire on their victims.
During Monday's proceedings, the three men and the 27-year-old woman told the magistrate in front of a packed court that they would appoint a private attorney to handle their case.
They also said they do not intend to apply for bail.
The matter was then postponed to 21 October.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-colonel Siphokazi Mawisa identified the two female victims of last week's shooting as 47-year-old Yandisa Mabuto and 40-year-old Thembekiza Manyashe.
The chairperson of the Committee of Chairpersons in the Eastern Cape legislature, Tony Duba, also attended the proceedings and said he was at court to show appreciation for the work done by the police in ensuring the swift arrest of the suspects.
"We are here to applaud the work of the police. We are also here to say that the (alleged) perpetrators should not be granted bail," says Duba.
