Former EFF Member of Parliament Thembinkosi Rawula has joined ActionSA in the Eastern Cape.
The party's provincial chairperson Athol Trollip introduced Rawula to the public on Monday as the latest in a series of high-profile individuals to have joined ActionSA since its inception some three years ago.
He said Rawula was also one of the few people in this country who had the courage of his convictions to take on his former leader, Julius Malema, to defend himself against defamation cases in both the High Court and Supreme Court and win.
"That is the significant part," Trollip said.
"ActionSA is buoyed by the fact that we continue to attract people of such quality and character from across the political spectrum across the province and the country."
Rawula resigned from the EFF in 2019 after accusing leaders Julius Malema and Floyd Shivambu of using party money to fund their lifestyles.
He said ethical leadership is what attracted him to ActionSA.
"They are the same people who are telling us that they are fighting corruption. You find in the media that the same people are the ones that are implicated in looting state resources," Rawula said.
