The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit will be probing the brutal murder of five people in a house in Gelvandale in Gqeberha late on Sunday night.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says gunmen wearing balaclavas entered the yard of a house in Koedoe Street and went to the outbuilding at the back.
She says shots were fired from the outside before the men entered.
Naidu identified the deceased as Damiel Cornellissen (42), Amber Van den Berg (37), Shariff Guttie (42), Ismaaêel Van Breda (29), and Jade Jantjies (22)
She said the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, but Naidu said: "It is alleged that drugs were sold from the house."
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nomthetheleli Mene immediately ordered the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation (Anti-Gang Unit) to hunt down the perpetrators involved.
"The safety and well-being of our communities remain our utmost priority, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that justice is served. We urge anyone with information relating to this case to come forward and assist us in our pursuit for justice," she said.
