Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Police have arrested five men who were caught stealing window frames from the Chatty Library.
The Municipality said in a statement that the men, aged between 26 and 54, were arrested this week after being caught exiting the building with several window frames.
Eight more were found on an unlicensed bakkie that was confiscated and handed over to the police.
Safety and Security Mayoral Committee Member, Lawrence Troon, said the state of vandalism in the Metro remains concerning.
“These criminal activities are stealing away from us because these facilities are meant to better the lives of our residents.”
The suspects are due to appear in court soon.
