The fifth suspect arrested in connection with the shooting of Kouga Councillor Jaques Alexander made a brief appearance in the Humansdorp Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Andy Davids, 34, was arrested on 24 March in Humansdorp and made his first appearance in court two days later.
The case was postponed to Wednesday for a formal bail application, but the matter was postponed so that Davids could formally appoint a new attorney.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said Davids was detained on a charge of attempted murder and that further charges could be brought against him at a later stage.
He will appear in court again on 9 April.

Their case was postponed to 19 April.
