Police in Port St Johns recovered 15 firearms following Tuesday's taxi rank shooting that claimed the lives of three guards.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says pistols, AK 47s, shotguns, rifles and 328 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
She says 11 suspects are currently in custody and are expected to appear in the local magistrates court soon.
The suspects will face charges of murder, attempted murder, malicious property damage, discharging firearms in a built-up municipal area and public violence.
Colonel Naidu says a gun battle broke out allegedly between two taxi associations in the Lusikisiki and Port St Johns area.
Three vehicles were also torched during the incident.
Six people sustained injuries and are being treated in hospital.
Colonel Naidu says there is a high density of police officials deployed in the area to ensure stability.
Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene has iterated that police and the relevant stakeholders are in dialogues with both taxi associations to put an end to this feud.
