The body of an 83 year-old woman has been found in her Kuruman Kloof Road home in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth.
Captain Johan Rheeder says police on routine patrol found her car in bushes near Despatch in the early hours of Sunday morning.
They then traced the owner to the Kuruman Kloof Road address and found the body of the deceased tied up in the kitchen.
Captain Rheeder says the name of the woman cannot be released at this stage. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
Port Elizabeth are also investigating a house robbery which took place on a property in Old Seaview Road, Seaview, on Saturday night.
Captain Rheeder says a 38 year old woman was alone at home at the time with her young baby - aged between 3 and 6 months - and two other children aged 12 and 8.
The woman told police that three men had broken into the house just before 8pm and tied them up.
They then locked them in a small room before making off with television sets and other electrical equipment.
The victims were treated for shock and police are investigating.
