An East London woman made a brief appearance in Court on Wednesday for an assault case that drew national attention.
Forty-year-old Ncediswa Mkencele was caught on a spy camera assaulting an 84-year-old woman at the upmarket Berea Gardens Retirement Foundation.
Mkencele was employed as a nurse at the retirement foundation and is currently out on warning. Micheal Schultze the foundation's Executive director said there is footage of the incident that allegedly took place in February. Schultze added that Mkencele was not fired, but when she was confronted about the incident she resigned immediately.
In June she was remanded on warning.
The family of 84-year-old Hope Shepard are suing East London's Berea Gardens Retirement Foundation.
Schulze added that further details regarding the law suit filed against their Foundation be communicated with NFB insurance brokers who is their insurer.
When Algoa fm news contacted the insurance brokers, their representative said they are not able to comment regarding the case as they don't want to breach their contract with any of their clients.
She will be back in Court on the 28th of October.
