Police in Gqeberha are investigating a case of armed robbery after eight gunmen targeted a furniture store in North End on Monday.
Police Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says at about 8.15 a.m. a staff member at the store, situated on Govan Mbeki Avenue, was about to enter the store when she was confronted by the men.
He says they forced her into the store and instructed her and other staff members to go into a back room where they were tied up with cable ties.
Captain Beetge says the men fled with 30 plasma TVs 4 microwaves, seven phones and cash and personal belongings of the staff.
The suspects fled with their loot in a white Toyota minibus.
A case of business robbery is under investigation.
