The EFF in the Western Cape has called on the George Municipality to urgently intervene to solve the crisis around the Go George bus service.
Five busses were torched, allegedly by disgruntled taxi operators who have been calling for the whole of the George Integrated Public Transport Network programme to be stopped and reviewed.
The Municipality has suspended the service in the wake of Wednesday's arson attacks.
In July the Economic Freedom Fighters said that it had been approached by taxi associations in George and surrounding areas to take lead the campaign of resistance to the pilot programme which was launched in the city in December.
EFF Western Cape chairperson, Bernard Joseph, told Algoa FM News this morning that the Municipality should intervene in the situation as soon as possible, saying, if needs be, the EFF will be willing to assist.
The introduction of the Go George Bus Service in December last year was marred by the murder in June of a local taxi boss, Tom Queba, who was the chief negotiator for the taxi industry.
One person has been arrested in connection with Queba's murder.
