Grahamstown police have confirmed that a burnt out bakkie found in Port Alfred on Saturday morning is the same vehicle that had been stolen during last week's farm attack in the Salem area.
Police spokesperson, Captain Milanda Coetzer, says the Nissan Hard Body was found by members of Port Alfred's Highway Patrol.
She says Grahamstown's Vehicle Identification Services later confirmed that it was the same vehicle that had been stolen during the attack on 70-year-old farmer, John Kinnel and his wife Madeleine, last Friday night.
Kinnel is still in hospital while his wife was not admitted.
Coetzer says police are following up all leads in the search for the perpetrators.
