Eastern Cape police are searching for the gunmen who mowed down an off-duty policeman outside his home on Saturday night.
Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene and her management team condemned the attack on the 58-year-old Warrant Officer who was from the stock theft and endangered species unit.
The incident happened at KwaMabefu Location outside Qonce.
According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, nothing was taken from the policeman and his vehicle was on the scene.
“The motive for the killing is unknown and will form part of the investigation. The case has been referred to the Directorate of Priority Crime and Investigation unit (DPCI) for further investigation,” she said.
Police have appealed to the public who may have information on the whereabouts of the gunmen to contact their nearest police station.
