A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Buffalo Flats, East London after police discovered drugs valued at approximately R80,000 during an operation.
Spokesperson, Captain Hazel Mqala says police received information about a suspected stolen vehicle around Buffalo Flats, and it was tracked to Parkside, where they managed to stop it.
She says it was confirmed stolen and linked to a case in Walmer in Gqeberha.
During a search of the vehicle, police found a packet of mandrax tablets, a sealed box containing an undisclosed amount of cash, and two empty firearm magazines.
Further investigations led the police to the suspect’s residence, where they discovered 907 mandrax tablets, two bags of tik weighing 280 grams, and an additional amount of cash.
The suspect was arrested and will appear in the East London Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and possession of drugs and magazines.
