A man who allegedly filled up his car without paying has been arrested in Nxuba (Cradock).
The 23-year-old motorist filled up his Mercedes Benz 250E with diesel at the N2 Windfarm in Gqeberha during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Police Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says when the attendant was getting the card machine, the suspect drove off without paying.
She says details regarding his vehicle were circulated among local SAPS and security who found the car on Frere Street in Nxuba.
The suspect's vehicle was impounded and he is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrates Court soon.
Several motorists have stolen petrol and diesel from the Windfarm station over the past year.
Windfarm owner, Carel Bakkes said it would not be the first time that thieves have presented themselves as customers.
In June, Bakkes told Algoa FM News that they have thought about more stringent measures like asking for proof of license or registration, but the risk is too high as the safety of his staff is of the utmost importance.
He said in Thursday's incident the driver filled up his tank with R1 500 worth of diesel.
