A 30-year-old man has been linked through his DNA to at least 14 rape cases in the rural parts of the Eastern Cape.
Spokesperson for police Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli says the victims were raped in Butterworth and Tsolo, where the suspect was also arrested on Monday.
He says some cases date as far back as 2016.
WO Nkohli says DNA only linked him to 14 cases but he is facing a total of 30 charges including kidnapping and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
He says the accused would target his victims as they walked home late at night, either from work or school.
Police say his youngest victim was 15-years-old while the oldest was 39.
Nkohli says the suspect appeared briefly in court where he was remanded in custody until his next appearance on the 27th of September.
He says the suspect will also be transferred to Butterworth to appear in court on similar charges next week.
