Monday morning was the coldest day thus far in Port Elizabeth this year.
The mercury dropped to 2.5 degrees celsius, the previous coldest temperature was 2.9 degrees on the 8th of June.
The PE branch of the SA weather service reports that East London also hit a milder record low at 6.9 C with the previous record for the year being 7.2 C measured on the 3rd of July.
The coldest place in the Eastern Cape overnight was Buffelsfontein at -8.3 degrees, with Jamestown at -4.4, Aliwal North at -4.1 and Elliot at -4 degrees.
Uitenhage was a chilly 1.7 C
The outlook for this week is sunny conditions with some light rain possible on Thursday.
