Cooperative Governance Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, is planning a visit to Komani soon, following calls by disgruntled residents for the dissolution of the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality.
In a letter to the Komani Protest Action Committee, the Minister said she would also invite her Deputy Minister and the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godonwana, on the visit expected early next week.
Angry Komani residents brought the town to a standstill recently, amid ongoing service delivery issues which are exacerbated by continued load shedding.
The aggrieved community has called on Government to dissolve the District Municipality because it is currently dysfunctional.
The spokesperson for Minister Dlamini Zuma, Lungi Mtshali, says she has already sent a team down to Komani on Monday which will provide her with a report on the matter.
"She is now on the basis of that report so she will come to Komani armed better with better knowledge of the situation happening down there. She will meet with the concerned group and other stakeholders," he added.
Algoa FM News also caught up with Komani Protest Action Committee member, Solimizi Nkwentsha who confirmed that the Minister would be heading to the area on Monday.
Meanwhile. the Sakeliga and local partners say they have initiated legal proceedings against National Government over the rolling state failure that enables Enoch Mgijima Municipality's collapse.
In a statement, the NPO says the litigation aims to secure interim relief for businesses and residents of Queenstown including other affected towns while developing a permanent legal system for greater oversight and intervention by organised business.
