An Eastern Cape club rugby player has collapsed and died during a match between the All Blacks and the Auckland Tigers at Faaldam in Humansdorp.
It was a home game for the All Blacks which ended in tragedy on Saturday when their scrumhalf Claude Booysen collapsed as he was about to kick a conversion ten minutes from time.
The game was immediately called off.
Club representative Hendrik Goeda told AlgoaFM news that Booysen was rushed by ambulance to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
It is suspected that he suffered a heart attack but the official cause of death is still being awaited.
Goeda said everyone was in shock as Booysen was a senior player who had been involved in the club for the past 20 years since he was a young boy.
Booysen, who was in his 30's, is survived by his wife and two young children.
