Child given overdose anti-depressants-mom pleads not guilty

A woman, who allegedly gave her two year old girl an overdose of anti depressants, has pleaded not guilty on the charges against her.

The 40-year-old woman appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate Court on Wednesday. 

The state has charged the mother with child neglect among other charges following her arrest by Mossel Bay's Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

Police said the child had to receive hospital treatment when the abuse came to light and has now been place in foster care.

The case against the woman was postponed to October 5th when her trial will start.
